Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and EMDR

Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and EMDR

The Atlanta Center for EMDR is a strong advocate for combining EMDR Therapy with Psychedelic Assisted Therapy.

While many may hold the idea of participating in psychedelic therapy as taboo, the reality is that psychedelic assisted therapy is currently gaining huge traction in the psychiatric community.

The Atlanta Center for EMDR has a professional relationship with The Atlanta Ketamine Center. Ketamine is currently the only psychedelic medication currently legally available in Georgia. Our typical model is to provide an EMDR therapy session within 48 hours of receiving an IV infusion of Ketamine (research shows that six ketamine infusions in four weeks is the optimal treatment). We are also open to working with patients who are undergoing ketamine therapy with their own established providers.

When combined, EMDR and Ketamine Therapy offer a powerful approach to addressing deep-seated emotional wounds and promoting holistic healing.

EMDR therapy is a specialized form of therapy that focuses on processing traumatic memories and experiences. By utilizing bilateral stimulation, such as following the therapist’s hand movements or listening to alternating sounds, EMDR helps patients reprocess traumatic memories and release associated negative emotions. This can lead to a significant reduction in symptoms related to PTSD, anxiety, and other trauma-related disorders.

Ketamine therapy is a cutting-edge treatment that involves the administration of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic, in a controlled setting. Ketamine has been shown to have rapid and powerful antidepressant effects, making it a valuable option for individuals who have not responded to traditional antidepressant medications. Ketamine works on different neurotransmitter systems in the brain, promoting neural connections and helping to reset the brain’s patterns of thinking and feeling.

When EMDR therapy is combined with Ketamine therapy, the results can be transformative. The reprocessing of traumatic memories through EMDR therapy can be enhanced by the effects of Ketamine, allowing patients to access and process difficult emotions in a safe and supported environment. This combination can lead to deeper insights, powerful emotional releases, and profound healing.

One of the key benefits of combining EMDR therapy with Ketamine therapy is the potential for accelerated healing and symptom relief. While traditional therapy approaches can take months or even years to show significant progress, the integration of EMDR and Ketamine can provide rapid and lasting results. Patients may experience a reduction in symptoms, improved mood, and a greater sense of well-being in a shorter timeframe.

Additionally, the combination of these two therapies can offer a more comprehensive approach to mental health treatment. EMDR therapy addresses the underlying trauma and negative beliefs that contribute to mental health conditions, while Ketamine therapy helps to regulate mood and promote neuroplasticity in the brain.

By addressing both the emotional and neurochemical aspects of mental health, patients can experience a more holistic and effective form of healing.

The combination of EMDR therapy with Ketamine therapy offers a promising approach to mental health treatment for individuals struggling with trauma, depression, and anxiety. By harnessing the unique benefits of each therapy, patients can experience accelerated healing, profound emotional shifts, and long-lasting relief from symptoms. If you are considering seeking treatment for mental health concerns, exploring the potential benefits of integrating EMDR therapy with Ketamine therapy could be a promising avenue for your healing journey.
